Taxisnet Greece Guide: Registration and Safe Access
A practical Taxisnet Greece guide to myAADE registration, key-number activation, identity checks, secure access, formal authorisation and account recovery.
The short answer
Taxisnet credentials provide secure access to myAADE and connected Greek public services. For natural persons covered by the current procedure, AADE combines the AFM and authentication-key request in an electronic application, followed by the identity-verification route offered for the case. Complete personal identity and credential steps yourself, protect recovery details, and use formal authorisation rather than sharing passwords or one-time codes.
This Taxisnet Greece guide explains how to create and protect the credentials used for myAADE and connected Greek public services. For natural persons covered by the current procedure, AADE combines the AFM and authentication-key request in an electronic application. Complete the identity-verification route offered for the case, then keep your username, password, recovery details and one-time codes private.
Scope and last checked: This practical guide was checked against AADE, myAADE and gov.gr on 24 September 2026. It is not legal, tax or immigration advice. Portal wording and activation routes can change, so the live official instructions take priority.
How does the Taxisnet Greece guide apply to new users?
The Taxisnet Greece guide applies when you have, or are applying for, an AFM and need secure digital access to your Greek tax record or another service that accepts Taxisnet authentication. For covered natural-person cases, the AFM and authentication-key request starts together online. Application, identity verification, activation, first login and delegation remain distinct stages, and some must be completed personally.

What are Taxisnet and myAADE?
Taxisnet is the authentication system associated with Greek tax services, while myAADE is AADE’s digital environment for tax records, requests, messages and available procedures. Your credentials authenticate you; your AFM identifies your tax record.
People often use “Taxisnet” to mean the whole online tax portal, but separating the elements prevents mistakes:
| Element | Practical function | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| AFM | Identifies you in Greek tax administration | A password or proof of tax residence |
| Taxisnet credentials | Authenticate access to supported services | Permission for another person to impersonate you |
| Key number | Supports the applicable credential activation process | A code to share with an informal helper |
| myAADE | Provides available AADE digital services and messages | A guarantee that every case is fully online |
| gov.gr authentication | May accept Taxisnet sign-in for connected services | Automatic eligibility for the service selected |
A successful login proves control of credentials at that moment. It does not decide whether a declaration is correct, whether you are eligible for a benefit, whether you are tax resident or whether your immigration position is lawful.
If you do not yet have an AFM, follow the AFM Greece guide for foreigners. If you are organising several arrival tasks, the moving to Greece admin checklist explains the wider sequence.
What should you prepare before registration?
Before registration, prepare your existing AFM if you have one, accurate identity details, an email address and telephone you personally control, your valid identity document, and any evidence required by AADE’s current verification route. If you are applying for the AFM and key together, follow the combined service rather than inventing a separate credential application.
Start from AADE’s AFM and authentication-key service. Do not follow a link sent by an unknown person merely because its page resembles myAADE.
Check these details against your AFM record:
- full surname and given names;
- date and place of birth;
- identity-document type and number;
- current email and mobile telephone;
- registered address and competent tax service where displayed;
- any existing username or earlier credential registration;
- representative information, if relevant.
Choose a personal email address that you expect to retain if you change employer, accountant or country. Protect it with a unique password and multi-factor authentication. Your telephone should be able to receive the communications specified by the service.
Prepare an original identity document for any video or in-person check. If AADE’s current route asks for a particular form, authorisation or proof, use the current version. Do not upload a broad set of passports, bank statements and civil records when the process does not request them.
If the AFM record contains the wrong name, identity number or contact details, ask AADE how to correct it first. A credential account built on an inaccurate tax record can spread the error to connected services.
How do you register step by step?
Register by entering the official AADE service, supplying the requested AFM or AFM-application and identity details, choosing unique credentials, completing the specified myAADElive or competent-office identity route, and testing first access. Save references and confirmations but never store the password with them.
Step 1: enter through an official domain
Navigate from aade.gr or type myaade.gov.gr yourself. Check the address before entering data. Avoid sponsored search results and shortened links.
Step 2: choose the correct credential action
Registration, username reminder, password reset and re-registration solve different problems. If credentials may already exist, use the official reminder or recovery route rather than creating a duplicate account.
Step 3: enter identity details accurately
If you already have an AFM, use it and the identity record exactly as registered. If you are using the combined AFM-and-key route, enter identity details exactly from the accepted document and follow the on-screen format. Take a screenshot of a non-sensitive error message if the system rejects matching data, but do not capture passwords or one-time codes.
Step 4: choose private credentials
Create a unique username and a long, unique password that satisfies the current rules. Use a reputable password manager on your own device. Do not let an accountant, relocation assistant, internet café or employer choose or retain the password.
Step 5: complete the offered verification route
AADE provides the identity route applicable to the case. For covered applicants this can include scheduled myAADElive video identification or attendance at the competent office. Follow the route presented, check current exceptions and have originals ready.
Step 6: activate with the key-number process
Use the key number or activation procedure exactly as AADE instructs. Treat every activation code as confidential. If a code expires or fails, use the official support or reissue route rather than asking someone for a workaround.
Step 7: test first access and sign out
Open myAADE from the official address, sign in and check that the account displays your details. Review messages and available contact information. Sign out, then confirm that your recovery route works without disclosing any code.
A bureaucracy screen-share can provide plain-English navigation support. You should pause sharing while typing credentials, enter every OTP yourself and make every submission.
How does key-number activation work?
The key number, commonly called a kleidarithmos, is part of AADE’s process for activating or establishing credentials against the correct identity. Its issue and verification route can vary, so follow the current option displayed or stated by AADE for your circumstances.
Do not confuse the key number with:
- your AFM;
- your permanent password;
- a bank OTP;
- a gov.gr document verification code;
- an accountant’s professional authorisation.
The key-number process exists to strengthen the link between the tax record and the person receiving credentials. That is why identity evidence or applicant action may be required. It should not be bypassed through another person’s telephone or email.
If a remote identity appointment is offered, test your device, connection, camera and audio beforehand. Join from a private location, hold the original identity document and follow only the official appointment instructions. Do not send a live image or identity scan to an unrelated messaging account.
If an in-person check is required, take the appointment confirmation and specified originals. Arrival admin accompaniment can assist with an agreed Athens visit, but you remain the applicant. If language support is needed, confirm whether the office permits informal assistance or requires a qualified interpreter.
AADE can change routes and terminology. This guide therefore does not promise a particular video provider, appointment period or instant activation. Record what the official page offered to your case on the date you used it.
What must you do personally?
You must personally control credential creation, applicant-only identity checks, password and recovery setup, one-time codes, approval of declarations and any action that the service requires from the account holder. Help with navigation does not justify sharing authentication secrets.
Actions that should remain with you include:
- choosing the username and password;
- controlling the registered email and telephone;
- appearing for a required identity check;
- presenting your original identity document;
- entering activation and one-time codes;
- reading declarations before accepting them;
- approving formal authorisations;
- reviewing submissions made in your name;
- recovering or disabling compromised access.
Another person can explain a label, prepare a non-sensitive checklist or point to the correct page. They should not watch you type the password, ask you to forward an OTP, add their own telephone for recovery or click a declaration you have not understood.
If disability or accessibility needs make the process difficult, contact the official service about available accommodations and lawful support. Do not assume that giving away credentials is the only practical option.
How can an accountant or representative act safely?
An accountant or representative should act through AADE’s formal authorisation, representative or professional mechanisms for the specific permitted task. They should not use your personal password, and you should understand the scope, duration and consequences of the authority granted.
Before authorising access, ask:
- What exact task will be performed?
- Which AADE mechanism records the authority?
- What information can the representative view?
- Can they submit a declaration or only prepare it?
- How will you receive and approve the final figures?
- How and when can the authority be removed?
Retain an engagement record and copies of submissions, receipts and communications. Formal access does not remove your need to provide accurate facts. A representative should identify assumptions and request your approval for material declarations.
Use minimum necessary access. Review authorisations after a property sale, tax return, business closure, change of accountant or end of representation. Remove obsolete authority using the official route and keep evidence.
No legitimate workflow requires you to send a Taxisnet password or OTP in an email, chat message or spreadsheet. If a professional’s process depends on shared credentials, ask them to explain the official alternative before proceeding.
How should you use Taxisnet on gov.gr?
Use Taxisnet on gov.gr by starting at the official service page, reading the eligibility and data-use information, following the redirect to the recognised authentication page and checking the requested consent before continuing. Authentication does not guarantee entitlement or make the resulting declaration correct.
gov.gr groups many public services, some of which use Taxisnet credentials to identify the user. A safe flow should make clear which service you selected and what information is being requested or returned.
Before authenticating:
- check that you began on
gov.gror another known official service; - read who operates the service and what it does;
- check whether you are acting for yourself or in another permitted capacity;
- inspect the sign-in domain;
- read the confirmation or consent screen;
- download the final document or receipt from the official result page.
Do not assume that every document issued through gov.gr has the same use or validity rules. Check its verification details and intended recipient. Do not edit the PDF or remove verification information.
If a service asks for additional banking authentication, treat it as a separate high-risk step. Never disclose bank login details to a helper. You should enter banking credentials and OTPs privately through the bank’s genuine interface.
How do you recover access?
Recover access only through AADE’s official username reminder, password-reset, key-number or re-registration process that fits the problem. Verify your contact channels and identity record first, and contact AADE through published details if the automated route cannot match you.
Diagnose the problem before acting:
| Symptom | Appropriate first action |
|---|---|
| Username forgotten | Use the official username reminder |
| Password forgotten | Use the official password-reset route |
| Old telephone or email | Follow the official contact-update or support process |
| Identity details do not match | Ask AADE how to correct the underlying record |
| Account may be compromised | Change credentials through the official page and review activity |
| Existing account uncertain | Use recovery or AADE support, not duplicate registration |
Do not pay a stranger to “unlock” the account. A legitimate adviser can explain the official process but cannot manufacture a valid identity match. Never forward a reset link or OTP.
After recovery, change any reused password elsewhere, check registered contact details, inspect recent messages and submissions, and review active authorisations. If the recovery email itself was compromised, secure that account first from a trusted device.
Write down the date, support channel and reference for unresolved problems. Avoid repeated registration attempts, which can make diagnosis harder.
How do you secure the account against fraud?
Secure the account with a unique password, protected recovery channels, careful domain checks, private OTP handling, formal delegation and regular review of messages and authorisations. Treat unexpected urgency or credential requests as warning signs.
Adopt these controls:
- bookmark the official AADE and myAADE addresses;
- use a password manager and never reuse the password;
- enable multi-factor protection on the associated email;
- keep device software and browsers current;
- avoid sign-in on public or shared computers;
- never approve an unexpected authentication request;
- inspect downloaded files before forwarding them;
- review myAADE messages periodically;
- remove obsolete representatives;
- keep offline recovery information in a secure place.
Phishing messages often imitate a tax refund, unpaid charge, identity verification or expiring account. Do not use the message link. Open AADE independently and check whether the same notice exists in your account. AADE’s current fraud guidance and published contacts should determine how a suspicious message is reported.
An AFM is sensitive personal data, but it is not a password. Still, do not publish it unnecessarily. When sending a document, verify the recipient and use the minimum data required. Avoid putting full identifiers in email subjects or unencrypted filenames.
If you believe credentials were disclosed, act promptly: use the official password-change or recovery process, secure the associated email and telephone, review account activity and contact AADE through official channels. If financial information was also exposed, contact the bank independently.
Which registration problems are most common?
Common Taxisnet registration problems arise from incorrect AFM data, an existing account, outdated contacts, mismatched identity details, choosing the wrong credential action, poor document quality and attempting a verification route not available to that applicant.
Use a controlled troubleshooting sequence:
- Copy the exact non-sensitive error text and note the time.
- Verify that the page is official and the service is operational.
- Compare the entered AFM and identity data with the tax record.
- Check whether credentials already exist.
- Confirm that the selected action is registration rather than reset or reminder.
- Read the current eligibility and document instructions again.
- Use the official support route with the existing reference.
Do not repeat the same failed submission many times. Do not create a second email and guess different spellings to force a match. The underlying record must be corrected through AADE if it is wrong.
Browser translation can help with orientation but may mistranslate legal or tax labels. Compare important wording with the original Greek and seek qualified advice where a declaration has consequences. A bureaucracy screen-share can help identify the next screen without deciding what you should declare.
If foreign identity documents need formal preparation for an underlying record correction, document and apostille guidance can help you frame questions for the authority. Do not obtain certification until the receiving service confirms what it accepts.
What should you check after first login?
After first login, verify identity and contact information, review messages, understand the visible tax-service relationship, check active representatives and save a secure record of any immediate action required. Do not change substantive tax information merely to make the screen look complete.
Review:
- name and AFM;
- identity-document details where available;
- address and contact channels;
- competent tax service;
- relationship or representative records;
- inbox and notifications;
- open requests, liabilities or registrations that you recognise;
- available security and contact settings.
If something is unfamiliar, record it and ask AADE or your qualified tax professional before editing or paying. Confirm bank-payment references through the official account, not through an unsolicited message.
Download receipts and tax documents only to a trusted device. Use clear filenames without passwords or complete identity numbers. Store them in an encrypted folder with a backup.
Create a quarterly reminder to review messages and authorisations, even if an accountant handles filings. Your personal account may contain notices that require attention. Check more frequently when a filing, property transaction, address change or business action is active.
What questions do users ask most often?
These answers cover the practical questions most new users face. AADE’s live instructions determine the route offered to an individual account.
What is Taxisnet in Greece?
Taxisnet is the authentication system commonly used to access myAADE and many connected Greek digital public services. The credentials are separate from your AFM, which is your tax identification number.
Do I need an AFM before registering for Taxisnet?
An AFM is normally part of the identity record used for Taxisnet and myAADE registration. Follow AADE’s current registration route and resolve any AFM or identity-record issue before creating duplicate requests.
What is a Taxisnet key number?
The key number, often called a kleidarithmos, is used within AADE’s credential activation process. How it is issued or activated depends on the current identity-verification route and applicant circumstances.
Can somebody register or log in to Taxisnet for me?
Another person may assist or act through a formal mechanism where AADE permits it, but you should complete applicant-only identity and credential steps yourself. Never give anyone your password, recovery code or one-time code.
What should I do if I forget my Taxisnet username or password?
Use AADE’s official username reminder, password reset or re-registration route as applicable. Start from aade.gr or myAADE, verify the domain, and do not pay an unknown third party to recover credentials.
Can my accountant use my Taxisnet password?
No. Your accountant should use AADE’s formal authorisation or professional access mechanisms for permitted tasks. Ask what access is being granted, review submissions and remove obsolete authority.
Does Taxisnet access mean I am tax resident in Greece?
No. Taxisnet access is a means of authentication. It does not by itself determine tax residence, immigration status, work permission, social insurance or healthcare entitlement.
How was this Taxisnet guide prepared?
This guide was prepared by separating tax identification, authentication, key-number activation, portal services and representative authority. The workflow and security recommendations were checked against AADE and myAADE, while gov.gr was checked for the connected public-service sign-in context. Variable portal routes are described as variable rather than presented as universal.
Last checked: 24 September 2026. Recheck AADE immediately before registering, activating or recovering access because screens, identity routes and support channels can change. This guide provides practical information only and is not legal, tax or immigration advice.
